Write an equation for finding the value of y and solve it. 19cm, 24cm, 8ycm, x+13cm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (austinl):

Do you mean finding the value of x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no of y

OpenStudy (austinl):

Excuse me, I didn't see the "y" over there. Ok, so it is a rectangle. Opposite sides are equal, so what is opposite of 8y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8y??

OpenStudy (austinl):

In the picture, what is directly opposite of 8y.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24cm

OpenStudy (austinl):

Ok, so opposite sides are equal in a rectangle. So, what is 8y=?

OpenStudy (carson889):

It would be equal to the opposite side, so its 8y = 24 and thus y = 3. Just as x = 6
