Use Euler’s Formula to find the missing number. 1. Faces: 23 Vertices: 10 Edges: ? 32 30 34 31 2. Vertices: 14 Edges: 36 Faces: ? 24 25 23 27

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

euler's formula is V - E + F = 2

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

for #1, we are given Faces: 23 Vertices: 10 Edges: ? so F = 23 V = 10 E = x

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so this means V - E + F = 2 23 - 10 + x = 2 now solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont get what you did but I got the answer and I got 31 for the first one and 24 for the second ... Im not sure if the first ones correct ?? @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

have you seen the formula V - E + F = 2 before?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes .

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

oh wait, i messed up on plugging in the variables..lol my bad V - E + F = 2 10 - x + 23 = 2 there, it's fixed

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sorry about that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There you go ... I got it lol . Thanks you ! can you help me with some other problems ? but its not on Eulers formula though . @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sure

Pierre built the model shown in the diagram below for a social studies project. He wants to be able to show the inside of his model, so he sliced the figure as shown. Describe the cross section he created. Hexagon Pentagon Pyramid Rectangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you got what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pentagon

OpenStudy (anonymous):

? Im really bad at this ...

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yep, it has 5 sides, so it's a pentagon

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you !

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sure thing
