The sides of a triangle are in the ratio 3: 5: 7. If the perimeter of the triangle is 90 cm, find the length of the shortest side.

Ok! So I believe I know how to do this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let the three sides be 3x, 5x and 7x. 3x +5x + 7x = 90 solve for x and then calculate 3x

OpenStudy (austinl):

You would have to add the variable x to the problem. \[3x+5x+7x=90\] Then as @Harkirat stated, you solve for 3x after you find what x is.
