Marhsal Plan- Funded the reconstruction of Europe. Was a good will gesture to the nations of western Europe that had suffered during WW II. It made them defacto allies to the US against Russia.

Berlin Airlift- Was a moral victory for the United States. By blocking off Berlin the Soviets appeared ruthless and the US triumphant when America airlifted supplies into western Berlin.

Korean War- North Korea invades South Korea. America Fears that if the entire Korean Pennisula goes communist than communism will spread to Japan and other nations. America and China commit troops to a war that ends in stalemate.

Truman Doctrine- President Truman publicly announces that America will send military and financial aid to Greece and Turkey to prevent them from joining the Soviet Union. Considered to be the start of the cold war and the policy of containment.
