How come the oblique asymptote of (x^2 + 4)/(x-3) is x+3, and not x+3+5/(x-3)?

Because it is only the polynomial part of the quotient...not the remainder
OpenStudy (precal):
because the oblique asymptote is a slanted line normally in y=mx+b form
