what do both dependant and inconsistent systems have in common

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

any ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no thats why im on here.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ok just checking

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

it turns out that they both share in common the fact that the lines will be parallel...ie they will have equal slopes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cool thanks

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

a dependent system looks like this |dw:1367359873720:dw| notice they never intersect

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so those two lines are parallel and have the same slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sry i meant to say inconsistent not dependent

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

a dependent system will be two lines that completely overlap...so they are the same line with the same slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So by parallell line do you mena thw y intercept?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

i mean the slope

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if two lines are parallel, then the slopes are equal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok thanks

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay bye
