How did Copernicus's work challenge the accepted view of the universe? He believed that Ptolemy's work was completely wrong. He knew that the planets revolved, but he did not believe they revolved around the earth. He wanted to prove that God created the universe and science was not involved. He thought that the universe had changed since Ptolemy's theory.
