i forgto to but the picture :/ sorry :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's the same picture you posted before.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o hhh snap i lossing it then lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you see what I did?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i did you got on half and moved it to make a rectangle :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Zackly!! :-) And there are 8 of'em just like that one!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right so dose that mean ther are four rectangle ????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No...it means there are "8 of'em just like" the one I just made!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the area of your octagon is the area of the rectangle * 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oohhh i c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 1086 :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Looking at regular plane figures like that makes it easier to figure out their areas. Any isosceles triangle can be split and flipped to form a rectangle, and many plane figures can be broken into isosceles triangles! :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

- "i got 1086" Yup! That's a match to my calculation, too! :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you mocking me -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??? Are you kidding?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol yeah hahahahaha :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay!! So it looks like you see what's going on with the angles then, right? :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i c that thank for your help i appreciate it :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1086 - 1086.4 square units

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem! I enjoyed it, and glad I could help! :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

....wait.... Where did you get the ".4" in 1086.4 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did not get it that was the answer :) :P the test gave me :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hogwash!! The area of the octagon in your drawing is 1086 ! I just double checked! If your teacher marks it wrong, ask her to explain where in hell she got that .4 from!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll mosey along here, but seriously, please keep me updated on this thing, because 1086.4 is just flat out wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeeah for sure :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hahahahaaahhaha ok :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@qweqwe123123123123111 i was doing the problem and i still got the same answer im not sure why they marked it wrong :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Heheh...sometimes all we can do is kick the dirt and walk away with the smug knowledge that "this time" we ARE right and the rest of the world IS wrong!! :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hahahahahah true i lke that
