What is the area of the regular octagon given below? If necessary, round your answer to two decimal places.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (notamathgenius):

Do you know how to find the area?

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

Do you know the formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes and no :/

OpenStudy (notamathgenius):

Ok tell me what you know

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

2(1+sqrt2)*(S^2) thats the formula. you need to remember these.. just plug in the sides length and get the answer.

OpenStudy (notamathgenius):

The formula for area of a regular octagon is given as follows, Area of a octagon = side2×(2+2(2√)). For an irregular octagon, it is not possible to find it's area with the help of a single formula. So, it has divided in to other regular polygons and then, the areas of all polygons should be added to get its area.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i have to put 26.6 and 22 times 2 :/

OpenStudy (notamathgenius):

You do what you think is correct, I am here to help not give you the answer. :) So if that is what you think is right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that gives me 5905.2 :/

OpenStudy (notamathgenius):

Why the :/ face?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cuz im not sure

OpenStudy (notamathgenius):

@yrelhan4 Need some assistance.

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

yeah?

OpenStudy (notamathgenius):

Is his answer correct?

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

2332.88 it should be, ig?

OpenStudy (notamathgenius):

That's what I got.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get that

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

|dw:1367421672683:dw| thats the formula..
