Is punctuation used correctly ?

In 1946, Albert Einstein said if he had known the Germans wouldn't succeed in constructing the atom bomb, he "would never have lifted a finger."

what says it, that is how it makes sense. Try saying it out loud. One day I'm going to be an astronaut--- pause---- Adelle told her sister. That is how it is supposed to be

I'm not sure what that is exactly but you could Google the definition of a parallel sentence and they will give you an example and tell you what it means. :)
