determine whether the graphs of the equations are parallel, perpendicular, or neither. 12x + 4y = 16 6x + 2y = 11 Please explain how you got the answer for me, I want to understand how to answer this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Case 1: 1 solution --Lines intersect --System is consistent --Equations are independent Case 2: No solution --Lines are parallel --same slope --system is inconsistent Case 3: Infinite solutions --Lines coincide/same line --system is consistent --equations are dependent

OpenStudy (precal):

look at your slopes, if they are the same then the lines are parallel

OpenStudy (precal):

if they are opposite reciprocals m=1/3 m=-3 for example then they are perpendicular

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got it, it's parallel, thanks

OpenStudy (precal):

if neither of those are true then it is neither
