why should an innocent purchaser from thief receive only possession whereas an innocent purchaser of another's goods from a buyer of those goods in fraudulent sale obtain good title?

Because entropy implies a loss in each transaction--in this case a reduction in the severity of the crime the farther you are from the source of the crime.

ken: hehe...because the 2nd law implies an increase in each transaction, in this case an increase in the legitimacy of the goods the more times it is transferred.
