Indicate in standard form the equation of the line passing through the given points. G(4, 6), H(1, 5)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you can subtract one point from the other to determine the slope with

OpenStudy (amistre64):

G(4, 6) -H(1, 5) -------- (3,1) ; stack y/x for slope

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if we keep this at the origin; we end up with a line\[y=\frac13x\]\[3y=x\] \[x-3y=0\] the problem is, this is a parallel line to the one we want, since we subtracted 1,5 from the point 4,6 to get here ....lets subtract 1,5 from ALL the points \[(x-1)-3(y-5)=0\]and simplify as needed

alright, thank you !!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome, and good luck
