[6.05] Trevor's dad decided to get him a cell phone for his birthday. Cell Plus has a plan that costs $20.00 per month plus an additional $0.06 per minute. Cell Best has a plan that costs $30.00 per month plus an additional $0.05 per minute. How many minutes can Trevor talk and both cell plans cost the same amount?

So we need to find a solution to this equation \[0.06x+20 = 0.05x+30\]Do you want to have a crack at that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x represents the number of minutes)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what should i do first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solve that equation for x. You could start by multiplying both sides by 100. What do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is how I would solve it.\[0.06x+20 = 0.05x+30\]Subtract 20 from both sides\[0.06x = 0.05x+10\]Take 0.05x from both sides\[0.01x = 10\]Multiply both sides by 100. Hopefully you can do that bit?

So its a 1,000 right.

Yep!
