factor each of those expressions, and look for common factors in the top and bottom that you can "cancel"

do you see the x^2-16 ? do you know how to factor that ? it is a "difference of squares" and you can use the "rule" (a^2 - b^2) = (a+b)(a-b) can you factor x^2 - 16 ?
