Can somebody please help me ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find m1 and m3 in the kite. The diagram is not drawn to scale.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

a FULLY stated question helps, if someone can, they will :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I give yall all the info I am given on these questions.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

if someone can HELP, I meant, of course :)

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

m1 and m? who?, I guess I don't see any 'm's on that picture

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its meant to be angles ...

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

ok, which ones from the picture?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you please show me how you got that ? I have to show my work.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

ahemm, I see now :S

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I still don't understand how @Luis_Rivera got that

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, I guess anyhow, one sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got one more problem like the others ... can you please help ?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

take a look at the picture, the kite vertical and horizontal lines would be perpendicular, thus wouldn't they make \(90^o\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the values of the variables and the lengths of the sides of this kite.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jdoe0001 do you understand or know how to do this ?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

look at the bottom sides, they each have 2 ticks, yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

if you were to EQUATE them in an EQUATION, what would the equation look like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no clue

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, how are they? aren't those VALUES given in the picture?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

ooops

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, how LONG are they? aren't those VALUES given in the picture?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they gave me y - 4 , x + 5 , 2x + 5 & x + 12 ? is that what you are looking for ?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yes

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

do you know what the TICK marks stand for?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatch_mark

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that side equals the other side ?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yes, so the || would be equal to the any other ||, and so on

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

if you were to EQUATE the bottom 2 sides in an EQUATION, what would the equation look like?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

since the ticks say they''re equal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I know that much but I don't know how to solve it ... would it be y - 4 = x + 5 & 2x + 5 = x +12 ?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yes :), now solve the bottom ones first, they only have 1 variable, 'x', what's x equal to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x+17/3 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 5.67 ?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

\(\huge \text{Õ¿Õ} \) w0t?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??? is that right ?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

no

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

your factoring went awry

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

the equations look fine though :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well how am I suppose to solve it ?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

2x + 5 = x +12, x=?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

you have the correct equations, all you need is to factor them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you suppose to do 2x + x ?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

now, if you dunno how to factor, makes anyone wonder why are you doing this test at all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because it's a test I have to do for school and i'm failing so I need help but I don't understand it

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, 'help' and 'do it for me' is not the same thing, so, so far your equations are fine, and if you know how to factor, as you by now should, you'd get 'x' and 'y' and thus all sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know how to factor

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

then this test doesn't apply to you :|
