OpenStudy (anonymous):

Major axis what??? Length of major axis or end points??? Go ahead with a particular question...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Major axis: The longest diameter of an ellipse.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

major axis vertices

im stuck because i cant find out how to find the y points

Post the question here...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the major axis of the vertices of this equation 4x^2+9y^2-8x-18y-23=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the major axis is the horizontal (because 9 is bigger than 4) so take the square root of that (3) the center is at (1,1), so move over 3 horizontally on both sides, and those are the vertices so (1+3,1) = (4,3) and (1-3, 1) = (-2,1) you can do the same for the minor axis, just moving vertically up and down by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nvm i got it
