1970's energy crisis. what the situation is today and how the government is currently addressing the issue? Can anyone help, does anyone know?

If it has anything to do with oil dependency, that's your answer. The OPEC embargo demonstrated how thirsty the United States' energy requirements for oil were, and still are. It's a big issue that always comes up whenever people talk about alternative energy needs. That's why the government is offering incentives towards energy efficiency practices and alternative energy sources by trying to promote those as a way forward to wean the US slowly off from oil. It's not going to happen overnight, but the hope is that eventually it will and we won't have to be so dependent on so many fossil fuels anymore.
