Determine whether the sequence could be arithmetic. If so, find the common difference and the next term. 12/3, 10/3, 8/3, 6/3, 4/3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c'mon now, you should know this! to start, what is the common difference between them all, that will help you realize if it is arithmetic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried to find it, But i think i was doing something wrong. @robz8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would the common difference be -2/3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, when i first look at this, i realize that all the fractions have a denominator of 3. that makes it easier for us to see the difference between them 12/3 - 10/3 == 2/3 10/3 - 8/3 == 2/3 8/3 - 5/3 == 2/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, that is the common difference!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay! So would I take away -2/3 from the last term I am given?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so Common difference is -2/3 and the next term is 2/3 @robz8
