Paul is painting a square wall with an area of 115 square feet. To the nearest foot, what is the length of the wall?

Parth (parthkohli):

If the area is \(\rm some ~random~ number\), then the length of the side is \(\rm\sqrt{some ~random ~number}\)

Haha obviously!! The answers are 11,29,42 or 58? I'm really bad at math so I'm pretty lost.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

area of a square with a side s: Area = s * s so, \[s=\sqrt{Area}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm confused?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because the wall is a square, the length and the width are he same. \[length=\sqrt{Area}\] then round it into nearest square (0.5 and above, round it up) for example: 13.7 = 14 13.2 = 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooooh ok i got it now! thanks!
