A manufacturer of electronic components expects 1.04% of its products to be defective. Determine the number of defective components expected in a batch of 28,350 components. Round to the nearest whole component
Know how to use the percentage as a decimal?
yes
0.0104 and 28,350
but it doesn't come out the way i want it to
OK... I am not sure what you mean.
What answer are you trying to get?
okay i said that i multiplied 0.0104 and 28,350 and i got 294.84. however this answer is wrong
Round it up?
yes i did that as well and it still came out wrong
Are you sure the question is copied down correctly?
in the back of them book the answers are either $876.87; or $20,153.87
let me make sure
Oh, how much does each component cost?
1.04% of 28,350 components are defective. 1.04/100 * 28,350 defective components http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=1.04%2F100*28%2C350+ defective components
Because then we multiply the number of expected defective components by the price for each one.
Yah, no prise in that question you posted. So where it the price from?
yea sorry i was looking the wrong number in the back of the book but yea so my answer is 294.84 then i round that to its whole componenet and i get 295 right?
wow. But yes right answer all along!
That would make a small difference. Hehe.
haha lol thanks guys :)
