How do I cite an online Bible on my works cited page?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

MLA format maybe?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u can use easybib.com if u haven't heard of it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, I did. It showed starting with the book of the Bible quoted rather than the Bible version as shown on the book citation example. Is that correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hm im not sure... i've only cited websites, not online books/bibles,etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi! Don't trust EasyBib. It's a machine; they make mistakes. Do you have a library at your institution?

I often use the Purdue OWL to verify citation styles. The main thing to keep in mind is that you should create the body of the citation based on the text version of the citation. All of the additional information that you need to add for a web-based book can be inserted into the correct place once you find it.

Here is a link to their free, online, tutorial... http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/2/

Whoops... this is the citation style one; not the in-text citation. http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/06/

Finally, last but not least, Diana Hacker's guide... 19. Sacred text Give the title of the edition of the sacred text (taken from the title page), italicized; the editor’s or translator’s name (if any); publication information; and the medium. Add the name of the version, if there is one. The Oxford Annotated Bible with the Apocrypha. Ed. Herbert G. May and Bruce M. Metzger. New York: Oxford UP, 1965. Print. Rev. Standard Vers. The Qur’an: Translation. Trans. Abdullah Yusuf Ali. Elmhurst: Tahrike, 2000. Print.
