OpenStudy (anonymous):

When a net force of 17.0 newtons is applied to a dictionary placed on a frictionless table, it accelerates by 3.75 meters/secondÆ. What is the mass of the book?

OpenStudy (silverlark2):

Using newton's 2nd law, F=ma, rearrange such that m is the subject. Hence, m= F/a. Sub in the values given (F=17 and a=3.75) to find the mass of the dictionary. **(I wasn't sure if you meant in the question that "it accelerates by 3.75 metres/second^2 but i just took it as that)
