Step-by-step process to simplify: (6x2 − 5) − (3x2 + x + 7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know the first step is to multiply each set by 1 then the second step is to distribute but I don't know how to put the like terms together.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. 1(6x2 − 5) − 1(3x2 + x + 7) 2. 6x2 − 5 − 3x2 + x + 7 3. like terms which I need help to find

OpenStudy (mayliz):

(6x2 − 5) − (3x2 + x + 7)=6x2 − 5 −3x2 - x - 7 =3x2-x-12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the like terms will be 6x2 − 3x2 + x − 5 + 7 ?

OpenStudy (mayliz):

it will be 6x2 − 3x2 - x − 5 - 7
