Help me. Indicate the equation of the given line in standard form. The line containing the median of the trapezoid whose vertices are R(-1, 5) , S(1, 8), T(7, -2), and U(2, 0).

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Graph the trapezoid to get started.

Isn't there a formula needed?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

I know of a median formula for a trapezoid, but that will just tell you the length. What you need to do is find the end points of the median, which depends on which sides of the trapezoid are the parallel sides. That means a good place to start is with what Mertsj said. Then you will be able to see where the median connects things, and then find those points.
