Hi, I can't seem to figure out this equation. It won't check at =0 with the calc. the formula we're supposed to use: x= - b + or - radical b^2 - 4 a c / 2a the equation: x^2 + 7x -3 = 0 I'm getting x= - 7 +/- square root of 73 / 4 please help thanks!

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What did you use for a, b, and c?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a=1 b= 7 c=3

i realized i accidently put the wrong # in for a but even though i fixed it, it still wont check with the ti calc.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

\[x=\frac{-7\pm \sqrt{49-4(1)(-3)}}{2}\]

OpenStudy (mertsj):

c=-3
