Whoops, I was thinking of it as two separate words. If you wanted downtown new york city to be one word (a noun/something that presents a specific place), then yes, montrealgurl is correct and you would need to capitalize Downtown. If you wanted it to be as separate words, then downtown would be an adjective and it shouldn't need to be capitalized.
