Avery is learning how to type. She increases the number of words she can type in a minute by 15% every week. This week she can type 25 words a minute. In 6 weeks how many words a minute should she be able to type? A) 40 words B) 50 words C) 58 words D) 100 words

OpenStudy (geneticrockhopper247):

To find a percentage of a number, multiply the number by the decimal form of the percentage. For your problem, 25*0.15=3.75. Since this is an increasing percentage, we add the 3.75 to 25 to get 28.75. So, after 1 week, she can type 28.75 words per minute. To find the second week, multiply 28.75 (aka the total from the previous operation) by 0.15 and add the product to 28.75. Do this until you get to the 6th week and you will have your answer. Does that make sense???
