subtract 0.10x from both sides

50 = 0.25x + 40

subtract 40 from both sides

10 = 0.25x

putting the value of y from first equation in second equation
so
0.35x+40=0.10x+50
taking x terns one side and all others on other side
0.35x-0.10x=50-40
0.25x=10
x=10/0.25
=40 :)
