As we move above up from one trophic level to another in an energy pyramid, what happens to the energy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
the producer gets 1% of the solar energy, and then 10% of it its transferred to the next trophic level and so on..... So as we go higher the trophic level the energy gradually decreases.........
