Which explains why the National Women's Party was successful in their suffrage movement? It used aggressive protest tactics on a countrywide (nationwide) level, instead of state-by-state. It marked the first time women had worked together to gain the vote. It had the benefit of strong leaders, which had not been the case during previous suffrage movements. It recruited women to support the Republican Party, which helped the movement gain wider male support.
