What are some similarities that chordates and vertebrates share?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they both have a back bone. vertebrates are a subset of chordates

OpenStudy (agreene):

Since vertebrates are members of subphylum chordata, anything that would define a chordate vertebrates also share. ex: bilateral symmetry, notochord, dorsal neural tube, Pharyngeal slits, metemerism of nerves, etc.

OpenStudy (agreene):

be careful of what @thtshortchick said, since having a "back bone" is not required for either phylum chordata or subphylum vetebrata

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's just the answer I put for that question and it was correct.

OpenStudy (agreene):

Well, sounds to me like whomever graded that question either didn't care or doesn't know the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks for both of your answers. (^_^) Quite helpful.
