you can break this up into the sum of the area of two triangles of equal area and one rectangle in between.

You can make it even easier than that. Just slice the triangle off the end, flip it, and stick it to the other end. The result is a rectangle, which is why parallelograms and rectangles have the same formula for finding their area: A = B*H
