A theater club hopes to raise at least $550 on the opening night of its new show. Student tickets for the show cost $2.25, and adult tickets cost $5.50. Write and graph an inequality showing the numbers of tickets that would meet the club's goal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

say that the number of student tickets sold is x and the number of adult tickets sold is y 2.25*x + 5.50*y >=550 this equation says that the total amount of money brought in from student and adult tickets is greater than 550 dollars. you want to solve for y and graph.

im still a little confused @tomo i still don't get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.25*x + 5.50*y >=550 let me break it down for you 2.25*x is the price per student ticket multiplied by the number of student tickets sold. 5.50*y is the price per adult ticket multiplied by the number of adult tickets sold. the total amount that is made from ticket sales must be >= $550
