If sin x = ½,what is cos x? HELP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it could be either \(\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}\) or \(-\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}\) depending on what quadrant you are in do you know how to find these numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NO

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im new to this i just started taking geometry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you using the unit circle, or are you using triangles?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

unit circle..i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look at the unit circle on last page of the attached cheat sheet the first coordinate is cosine, the second is sine look where you see the second coordinate is \(\frac{1}{2}\) and you will see that the first coordinate is \(\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}\) you can derive this also by pythagoras

oh okay thankyou (:
