Can the numbers 24, 32, 40 be the lengths of the three sides of a right triangle? Explain why or why not.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

In a triangle, the sum of the lengths of any two sides must be greater than the length of the third side. Take the sides two at a time and add their lengths up. If each sum is greater than the length of the third side, then it can be a triangle.
