So we have two interior angles of 35+y and two of 60+40=100. Since the sum of all four interiors is 360 we have:
\[360=2•100+2(y+35)\]
\[360=200+2y+70\]
So:
\[\frac{ 2y }{ 2 }=\frac{ 90 }{ 2 }\]
\[y=45\]
