How do I calculate the perimeter of these three?
OpenStudy (phi):
For the horizontal and vertical lines, count how long they are
for the slanted lines, notice you can form a right triangle with legs of length 2 (wide) and 6 (height)
you can use pythagoras to find the length of the slanted side (it is the hypotenuse)
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
I don't really understand :/
OpenStudy (phi):
what exactly is the question ?
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
"Calculate the perimeter of each room and the cost of baseboards or wallpaper boarders."

You know the perimeter is the distance around the figure.
can you figure out the lengths of 3 of the 4 sides of the kitchen ?
OpenStudy (phi):
by counting the squares
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
11 is the length, and the with is 6
OpenStudy (phi):
what about the bottom edge ?
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
that's 9

OpenStudy (phi):
so the perimeter is 11+6 + 9 + x
the x is the length of the slanted side on the right.
OpenStudy (phi):
you can make a triangle. start at the top and go straight down
then go over 2 squares
