Isosceles triangles are always similar to each other.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true or false?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Do you know the meaning of "Isosceles triangles"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

OK, then it talks about what two sides must be. But does it say anything about the third side?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the base angles are congruent

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

|dw:1368120073987:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes they are @SpawnOfSatan

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@_king_J So you are saying the two triangles I drew are similar?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no so it would be false

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@SpawnOfSatan I asked about the base, not the base angles. Are the bases on the ones I drew the same?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@e.mccormick true no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1368120511377:dw| would be more correctly drawn

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Exactly. The one where they are all similar is the 60-60-60 triangle.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

That does not correct the drawing with the condition given. I was specifically stating that all four sides were the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can not answer if they are similar because you didnt indacate anything besides the pair of sides. so I believe that would be false

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

And that was the point, that the third side can be anything. So I can have two Isosceles triangles where the base is of any length, but the matched sides are the same. That means the answer to your question is false. They are not always similar. And the web site really changed the order of the responses for some reason!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

np. Have fun!
