One way to estimate is to round 78 up to 80, this gives you a nice round whole number to work with. Then, we can say that 22% of 10 is 2.2. So to get 22% of 80, we do 2.2*8. This gives us 17.6, which is a bit on the high side, but very close.

To find 22% of 78, you would first multiply 78 by 0.22, since 0.22 is the decimal equivalent of 22/100. When you multiply 78 by 0.22 you get 429/25, or, 17.16. To check that the answer is correct, you can put it as a fraction, 17.16/78, which equals 11/50, or, 0.22
