They didn't interfere with their culture. We let them do what ever they wanted with their society, but after the bomb on pearl harbor we bombed two major parts. Nagasaki, and 1 other (forgot). After the war, The United States took the Japanese culture forcing The Emperor to announce he is not a god, giving women the right to vote, and The United States even got Military bases. Sorry for the long explanation, I am kind of a WW2 history buff.
