What is the range of the data in the stem-and-leaf plot? (see attachment) 20 4 16 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the one that starts with 000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

From 15 - 35. If you look at the stem and leaf plot, the first number on the left is the tens and the numbers on the right represent the range of ones.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so whats the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@lionheart

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It should be 35 - 15 = 20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have another question @lionheart

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Shoot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The two box plots show the scores from Mrs. Clark's first and second blocks on a 60 point assignment. What is the range for second block? 50 15 25 40

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to look at the whiskers of the box plot to see the whole range - they start at 10 and end at 60, so the range should be 50.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

part b- What is the inter-quartile range for first block? part c- Which class had at least one outlier? part d- Which class had the highest median?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Interquartile range is the range from the beginning to the end of the boxes. So for the first block, that should be between 35 and 50 so the range is 15.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you look at the box plots, you should see some amount of symmetry if there are no outliers. If there is asymmetry, it stands to reason that there is an outlier. Neither block looks symmetric, but I am thinking that block 1 looks more asymmetric.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The median is the red line in the box plot, so the 1st block had a higher median.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you sooooooo much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The data represents the miles per gallon (mpg) for vehicles manufactured by a company in the past five years. Are there any outliers for the data? Data: 28.7, 25.5, 21.8, 21.6, 20.5, 16.7, 16.3, 15.4, 13.9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am thinking that my answer to c may not be correct; I don't know a lot about outliers, so I can't help with the next question. Sorry...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its okay!
