the figure has a triangle & a rectangle.total area will be the sum of rect. and tria.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so basically i have to find the area for both?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok can you help me do that
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so the area of triangle is =base*height/2
rectangle =length *breadth

what??
OpenStudy (anonymous):
u don't know base, height of tria.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
?
OpenStudy (anonymous):

the are of the tri is 150 right
OpenStudy (anonymous):
nope , the base of tria is not 20. it is 20-16.now try again
OpenStudy (anonymous):
4
OpenStudy (anonymous):
base is 4
OpenStudy (anonymous):
now u cn find area of both?

ok so the height for the tri is 15 right
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
tri=30 right
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
rectangle=300 right

nope
length is 16 not 20.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
its 15 right
OpenStudy (anonymous):
15*20
OpenStudy (anonymous):
let me make it clear. For a rectangle the biggest value will be the length (here it is 16) and the othr value is the width (here 15).
OpenStudy (anonymous):
don't consider whether it is horizonal or vertical

thus rect area =16*15
OpenStudy (anonymous):
240
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yup
OpenStudy (anonymous):
270 then thats what i got at first
OpenStudy (anonymous):
270 is right
