Why did Darwin’s observations of Galápagos tortoises cause him to wonder how species originate?

They made him wonder how they evolved from a common ancestor into their own separate species.

It was the diferenciations of the Tortoises......they were all very similiar but had different adaptations........distinctly their necks, the necks were different lengths for different food sources.....that would be wether the sourse was high or low.
