OpenStudy (anonymous):

EXAMPLE X+2 -------------- X ^2 - X -6 FACTOR ---------------- X - 9 -------- X + 3 X + 2 --------- SIMPLIFY (X + 2 ) ( X - 3 ) 1 --- X - 3 -------- DIVIDE X - 9 ----- X + 3 1 X + 3 ----- * ----- WHEN YOU DIVIDE ( MULTIPLY IT FLIPS) X - 3 X - 9 X + 3 -------- (X - 3 )(X - 9)

THAT WAS AN EXAMPLE IT WAS NOT YOUR MATH PROBLEM

one more time!!

OpenStudy (dwelsher):

KeemoD143 did you get that simplified? If you did let's see what you came up with.

OpenStudy (dwelsher):

1.write your problem out 2. realize you have a fraction ion the neumerator and denominator on both the top and bottom 3.the denominator on the top fraction needs to be factored 4.so if you have (5/6)/6/5) in order to solve this type of problem you need to flip the bttom fraction and cancel out any similar terms and them MULTIPLY the to quantities together. (5/6) times 5/6) which equals 25/36. this gives you and idea like iforgot tried to give you.
