1.0 moles of a monatomic gas interacts thermally with 1.0 moles of an elemental solid. The gas pressure decreases by 50 C at constant volume. What is the temperature change in the solid?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\bf PV=nRt\]

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

pressure decreases by 50C ? o.O what is C ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah it's a very odd question. C is indeed 50 degrees celcius. I have no clue how to go about this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My problem actually says the gas temperature decreases by 50 degrees celcius. Not sure why it copied over wrong onto here. Change pressure to temperature

I am getting the feeling we will have to use the first law of thermodynamics. But am chem is not very good so am not very sure how.hmm
