Glen is looking into buying a piece of land. He estimates that the land measures 100 yd by 850 yd. The land is actually 140 yd by 940 yd. What is the percent error in the estimated area of the land? A. 35.4% B. 17.7% C. 64.6% D. 32.3%

This answer is a little more tricky. To me, it is B. If it is correct, I will explain how I obtained it.

Firstly, calculate the area of both of these measurements. The reason for this is that as the land measurements are given as a value e.g 140 by another value e.g 940, the use of by implies the area of both must be found. From there, the percentage of the smaller area must be calculated over the larger area and then multiplied by a hundred so it could take the form of one of the answers. e.g ((100 x 850)/ ( 140 x 940) ) x 100. This then obtains the value which is nearest to the answer C
