andre rents beach chairs and umbrellas to tourists visiting the beach. one one saturday he has 150 customers. if he rents 125 chairs and 72 people rent both chairs and umbrellas how many people rent umbrellas?

First you need to find the amount of people who have only rented chairs. Out of a total of 125 chair rented, 72 were rented along with umbrellas. So: 125 - 72 = c With c as the number of customers renting chairs only. Subtract that from the number of total customers with this equation: 150 - c = x And you have the answer.
