please help mee! After the people in the study had done the first task, what were they asked to do? Click to view the passage "Decisions = Brain Drains." A. Do some physical exercise B. Get some rest C. Make a choice D. Eat a snack
Should you get a job after school or play a sport? Go to a party alone or with a friend? Every day, you make hundreds of decisions. You decide what to wear, what to eat, and what to do. Many decisions are automatic. You choose without thinking. Habits are choices that become automatic. But the big decisions make the brain work hard to compare choices. Now people who study the brain say big decisions are tiring. Like a muscle, the brain gets stronger with use, but it also gets tired when used a lot. When muscles and brains are tired, they are weaker at other tasks. Faced with more decisions, a tired brain might be fooled into making bad choices. People doing an experiment gave persons who’d tired their brain some choices. They were less able to think clearly. They ended up making bad decisions they wouldn’t usually make. It’s not just decisions that tire the brain. Any task that needs a lot of attention is tiring. So is trying to change a habit, like changing what you eat. Don’t stop working your brain, though. You just need to give your brain time to rest before that next big decision.
