Help please :) ! Which ratio is equivalent to the ratio 3 to 9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok :) !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have multiple questions? Or is it just write it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 1 : 6 B. 6 to 3 c. one over three D. 3 : 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No thank you :) I don't understand the whole ratio thing ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay well i have 4 equivalents for it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok :) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1:3 6:18 9:27 12:36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So im going to say A

OpenStudy (radar):

Think similar to this: 3 is to 9 the same as 1 is to 3 Why because 3 when multiplied by 3 equals 9 and similarily when 1 is multiplied by 3 equals 3 each second number is 3 times the first number.

OpenStudy (radar):

Note that in each of mikelo40 examples, that the 2nd number is 3 times the first number. 1 X 3= 3 6 X 3 = 18 etc....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok im confused @radar LOL ! SO your saying 3 to 9 is similar to 1 to 3 because 1to 3 = 3 3 to 3 = 9 3 to 9 = 27 I don't understand :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is the answer A ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mikelo40

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im pretty sure, yes.

OpenStudy (radar):

A. has a correct answer, but all the examples given by mikelo40 were correct, but only the 1 to 3 was an option

OpenStudy (radar):

In you post the 2nd line was messed up "3 to 3 =9" it should be 3 times 3 = 9 also true for the 3 to 9 =27 should be 3 X 9 =27. a ratio is a perspective of something that has multiplied or divided. Like his hamburger is twice as big as mine. That is a ratio of 1 to 2 Now a ratio of 2 to 4 or 3 to 6, 4 to 8 etc. all can be reduced to a ratio of 1 to 2.

OpenStudy (radar):

Practice will help make it clearer. Good luck with these.
